Kingsman: The Secret Service

[personal profile] comradesmiler 2015-07-26 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, for a film adaptation of a Mark "Unfunnies" Millar comic, that was fantastic.
now I join Elaminator in the "Harry Hart ain't dead club" and begin BrOTP'ing Eggsy and Roxy.

waaaaaaaitwaitwaitwait there's a COMIC?

Hmm. Is the book better or worse than the movie? Any major differences? Spoil me at will, IDEC. Is it in TPB, or am I looking at tracking down issues? Blech. Haven't been inside a comic book shop since 1994....

I am also in the "Harry Hart Lives" camp.

IDK if it's better/worst than the movie, but I don't have the best opinion of Millar anyway, and the movie is rather loosely based in the comic.
It's called the Secret Service, BTW.

I haven't read the comic either, but I know the movie changed things up a good bit. (Harry was Eggsy's uncle in the comic, and Eggsy was just 'Gary'. Gazelle was male too.)

I'm not even sure I want to read the comic because I love the film version so much.

Look, there was no close up, no burial, Valentine and Gazelle simply walked away without even checking his body. He is clearly still alive.

Now how I'm not sure, but people can survive getting shot in the head! *starts sweating*

Weirder things have happened in this very film.

(But seriously, Vaughn has said bringing him back is a possibility, I'm just not sure if they'll follow through with it.)

And yes, I'm hoping that Eggsy and Roxy will get missions together in the next film, but that they'll remain friends who snark together and support each other unconditionally. They're very sweet together, but my heart is set on Harry/Eggsy despite the fact it would never happen, lol.

Feel free to chat with me about Kingsman at any time! (Anyone and everyone.) I loved this film, jfc.

Who do you think could be the next Arthur, btw? Someone new? I've seen lots of "Harry should come back and be Arthur", and while I would love that a part of me would be disappointed that he wasn't still kicking ass. (I'm going to ASSUME Arthur doesn't go on missions, anyway. He needs at least ONE mission with Eggsy.) Merlin doesn't seem like the sort who would want the job, so I guess it'll end up being some random Kingsman we haven't met yet.

Anything in particular you want to talk about? (I'm addicted to the soundtrack, btw. I can't stop listening to Bonkers.)

It was Valentine's first time with a gun, he must've fucked it up somehow!
I have Merlin pegged in my mind as the new Arthur, but I'll also like it if when Harry comes back and takes the position. I'm also trying to work out an imaginary Kingsman ride, as I try to do with all my fandoms.

People have survived gunshot wounds to the head IRL. While rare, it is possible. The fact that this was the first time Valentine fired a gun only makes it more likely.

>.>

Do you see Merlin as continuing all his old duties once he takes on the position of Arthur? I'm not sure he would have the time for it, and that thought upsets me. If he has to be one or the other I would prefer him stay in his current job; he's brilliant at it.

Harry would make a great Arthur, though. Maybe he could go on 'one last mission' with Eggsy before taking the role. (I am in too deep with this, Christ.)

You know I am not a roller-coaster person, but a Kingsman ride would be neat. I would love a Kingsman video game too!

Oh, btw, you should watch this.

I saw that vid ages ago as a youtube ad, damn funny.
I kinda headcanoned that he had Amelia as a protege, and that he not only trust her enough to have her die at each 'interview', but also to call her to take precautions during the V-day incident.
For the video game, I would want platinum to handle it. As for the ride, a kickass B&M would do nicely.

I'm jealous of the people who got to experience it!

Hmm, you mean Amelia as the new Merlin? It could work! I would rather that then they bring in someone new for the role.

Actually, thanks for mentioning Amelia...we should def see her again (in some form). I also hope the tailor from the Bespoke scene shows up again.

OMG, Platinum making a Kingsman video game would be insane. Like, not even joking, that would be a dream come true. They are probably the only company I would trust to pull off something with the kind of choreography Kingsman had.

I personally latched onto Arthur correcting Eggsy with "Galahad is dead." when Eggsy stormed in all, "HARRY'S DEAD!!"

>.>

But yeah, Valentine had never fired a gun before, he practically looked away/covered his eyes, and neither he nor Gazelle checked the body so it'd be pretty easy for them to find a loophole and bring Harry back.

See, I just took that as Arthur being a dick that tries to keep things impersonal, because Arthur WAS a gigantic dick. (Grrr. I shouldn't hate you Caine; I don't like this.)

But I think he might've had a soft spot for Harry regardless considering the offer he gave Eggsy. (Which I feel was probably genuine, at the time.)

The fact is, things happened so fast and there was no real resolution to the whole 'Harry is dead' scene, so they could go almost anywhere with it. Valentine definitely hit Harry (badly, from the looks of it), but how much damage he did is up in the air. (You're right, he was barely even looking at Harry.)

It's entirely possible he died immediately, and it's also possible he sat there and bleed out, but on the other hand...that scene happened the night before shit went down, right? So maybe an ambulance rushed him to a hospital before the world went to hell, and he was in isolation or something... (After all, that church scene was several minutes long...someone had to have called the cops during that shit. It couldn't have been quiet.)

IDK, but I'm not letting this fucking idea go ever, lmao. I love Harry too much.
