Re: Is anyone tired of the "realistic anal sex" trend?

...Several weeks? Man I dunno. You do poop from there. It's not going to need that much work.

I like it though lol. Perfect, non-messy, non-awkward, fantasy fucking is completely boring to me.

I can go for awkward, I like fic where people are clumsy and awkward or aren't sure what they're doing. But I feel like there's a distinction between realistic sex where its awkward and that awkwardness contributes to overall character and tone, and realistic sex with graphic descriptions of shitsmell, which doesn't add much

graphic descriptions of shitsmell

wtf? Is this a thing in fic? Like, really? Are the people writing this unware that people who have anal sex like ...usually do prep for anal sex? Like okay, sometimes you hit oil by accident, but this is usually not a thing.

I'm starting to wonder if by "realism" those authors just mean "intentionally offputting".

A large part of the problem is that most of the people calling for realism don't know what it really is like, and assume the worst

The most common offender I have seen so far is "it's always incredibly painful the first time, no exceptions"

Well, I mean... okay, any sex is going to suck if you're not relaxed and in the right mood. But... I don't get this?

I guess I've never actually come across this. I tend to write what I feel is realistic sex (having had sex a lot) and I suppose that's my frame of reference: it can be a bit weird, miscommunications can happen, awkward things can be done/said, and it's almost never The Best Evar(tm). However, that certainly doesn't mean people are running around with poopdick or going through agony every time anyone attempts anal sex.

Maybe this is all part of the sex negative trend that's been hitting some fandoms lately. Who knows.

Not sex-negative, it's a small but consistent backlash against the perfect fantasy anal sex that makes up most of slash fic, only this minority is made of the people who take it too far and equate 'realistic' to 'adding in bad things like poopdick and pain ~gritty reality~' instead of 'imperfect with awkward laughter and someone not sure how to give a blowjob' which is how I'd define realistic personally

It's been around for a long while since before the heyday of anime yaoi fandoms

The difference is you've had sex. These people haven't, so what they think is realistic...isn't.
