How does it compare to State of Decay?

They're kind of similar games in different genres, I guess? SoD is more of a realtime, TPS type of game, whereas Dead State is essentially Classic!Fallout or XCOM with a zombie apocalypse theme, so it's a semi-top-down turn-based RPG/squad tactics game in terms of actual gameplay. (Even the health rankings are cribbed from Fallout -- everything from "wounded" to "almost dead." Given that Brian Mitsoda applied for a job at Black Isle Studios on the strength of Fallout 1, that's not really a surprise.)

Both have a shelter maintenance theme at the very least.
