To be fair, being an abuse survivor doesn't mean you can't be a bad person or hurt others.

I know in my own family that while I try to understand why people act the way they do, that in no way excuses some of their behavior. And I do think, at a certain point, you have to take responsibility and get help, especially if you're hurting others in turn because of that abuse.

I can understand what you mean about abuse survivors not being exempt from hurting others, but that's not what I'm referencing. I'm talking about when non-abuse survivors call abuse survivors weak and pathetic for struggling to get help in the first place while ignoring that there are a multitude of factors for why someone can't get the help they need. Hope that clarifies.

Amen. Male abuse survivors get it the worst, for obvious sexist reasons. "Weak" is a go-to insult toward men.
