Yeah, I think most writers feel that way, especially the decent ones. On the rare occasions I run into someone who never has those moments of self doubt or criticism, their writing is invariably mediocre. They're usually the same writers who can't handle constructive criticism either, not even when they ask for it.

me too, tbh. I definitely enjoy a lot of antagonistic characters, but I tend to like the protagonists more and root for them. Like you said, that's not exactly an unpopular opinion considering that the source material wants you to support the protagonists for obvious reasons, but I've just never really gotten into the trends in some fandoms where people stan the villains and bash the protagonists.For example, there were/are a lot of people in the Harry Potter fandom who bashed the fuck out of Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, and most of the Order (I understand wanting to criticize Dumbedore since the text showed him to make some dubious decisions, but it still got waaay over the top. He wasn't a cartoonishly evil super villain ffs) in favor of having Harry join the Death Eaters and bang Voldemort/Snape/Draco/Whoever after realizing that they were totally rad or whatever. I never really understood that inclination

I have to admit...I don't think it was unreasonable that Taylor got upset and assumed Nikki was calling her out. Technically in a way she WAS. But when confronted about it Nikki just pulled a "It's not you, it's society/voters" or some shit.

Taylor was very gracious in apologizing when...technically by all rights she didn't have to. She had a good reason to be upset.

....man I can't believe I'm taking Taylor Swift's side.
