I value the days where I feel good about my writing more because I'm way more productive when I'm in a good mood and I prefer to approach the issues I find as a kind of light-hearted puzzle where some of the worst mistakes are just funny and I need to figure out how to fix everything. When I'm in a hyper-critical mood I'm kind of useless, and I'm less likely to pick out the things that are actually working well that I should try to emphasize in later drafts. I surprise myself a lot in first drafts and I can't judge whether those surprises are good or bad unless I'm in a more levelheaded state of mind than one of my "everything sucks!" moods creates. For me that levelheadedness comes from a more positive state.
