The more people who have expectations of my fic, the more critical of my work I become. Because I'm not trying to write something that great, tbh, just something mostly for me and maybe that something is mildly entertaining for others as well. So, I can read my old fics and not see anything I dislike because I know no one is reading them but me, and then I can read my newer fics, which have a small, but dedicated readership (of people whose writing I admire ah!) and see so many things I want to fix or change.
