Misspellings.

What misspellings bother you?

I'm no grammar nazi, spelling pedant, whatever whatever. But whenever I see 'choked' spelled 'chocked', I cringe hard.

'Loose' for 'lose' drives me to madness.

I always imagine "loose" bowels when someone uses the wrong word.

Especially when someone is talking about loosing their shit.

grammar not spelling, but i hate hate hate 'how it looks like'. i.e. 'how it looks like when i raise my hand in class' 'i want to see how the finished product looks like'.

not a a specific misspelling, but it really annoys me when people spell characters' names wrong in their fic (especially when they include that character's tag. it's spelled correctly right there in the tag! the tag that you selected! how could you then consistently misspell it in the fic??). I'm looking at you, "Steve Rodgers" (and many others)

I also can't stand it when people misspell "torture" as "torchure" (and, again, I sometimes see this in fic summaries where people have selected the "torture" tag) Come on, now.

should "of"
could "of"
would "of"

IT'S "HAVE," DAMN IT. The "of" sound comes from the contraction of the word and "have" (e.g., could + have = could've).

OP of Secret #1 today

As a longtime Steve Rogers fan, I want you all to know that when you spell his last name Rodgers, you make him shed a single manly tear of pain.

Balling one's eyes out instead of bawling.

Unless they're talking melon baller, I can't handle it.

Clearly nobody these days read Black Beauty or the other horse books growing up. The generation is corrupt etc.

For some reason "laundry mat" really makes me grind my teeth, and lately I've been seeing it every damn where.
