But an extreme word like unambiguous doesn't mean "within reasonable bounds" or it'd open up the field to a whole lot more?

Well, my point is more that from a strict enough perspective, almost nothing can be described as 'unambiguous'. So there's inherently some degree of wriggle room if you're going to allow the word to have any real use and meaning.
