I think it would have to be pretty hugely awful to cut them out of my life.

I pretty much always see things from two (or more) perspectives.

But, to say an inevitably controversial thing: abortion.

While I absolutely DO see the argument from the other side, personally the bodily integrity of a woman will always be more important.

And while I can be friends with people with different opinions on it - I do think that if I ever got pregnant, wanted an abortion, and a friend/relative would try to stop me or shame me, I WOULD consider cutting them out of my life.

Another thing probably is people who hold rather gross opinions about people with mental problems (and in some cases disabilities) - like along the lines "we should lock them up and throw away the key" or "they're a burden to society and therefore worthless".

Also people who are pretty much clearly racist of homophobic. There's a certain level I can take, because i do believe most of us have some prejudices (like a less tasteful joke here or there). But if you'd say something like that asylum seekers deserve to drown or that gay people deserve to be punched in the face...

Yeah, we'll probably not be friends.

You've pretty much covered it all.

The last two opinions are my dad.

Can't wait to hear how he reacts when I tell him I'm gay! (lol jk I'm probably never going to be out at this rate)

i'm sorry, anon. Both my parents tend towards that casual racism older people can have...and well, it's annoying, but I just don't argue anmore because there's no point.

Would you support an abortion for a mentally disabled person who couldn't care for the child and isn't really capable of consenting?

(As opposed to someone who would struggle but clearly wants the child.)

honestly, yes.

That's one hell of a minefield, anon.

Because if a mentally disabled person isn't capable of consenting to abortion, I'm going to assume they weren't capable of consenting to sex in the first place, so the pregnancy was a result of rape..so yeah, minefield.

At that point i feel it really does depend the level of mental disability and perhaps opinions of doctors who know them on what could be least traumatic.

Someone with Down's, for example, probably DOES have the capacity to say if they want a baby or not, for example.

And while instinctively I'd say that it's probably best to abort e fetus that is the result of sexual abuse, this is not a universal truth, and in some cases the abortion could be additional trauma to the rape.

I don't really have a clear-cut answer. It's one of those case to case basis things.
