Star Wars Books/Comics

I've only seen the movies and I'm especially interested in the Jedis. I'm open to anything, but for a specific, what are the good Jedi books/comics? I'm especially curious about the Jedis at the height of their power or earlier, and about the Jedis who survived Order 66 and then went on to help Luke out (and hopefully remained alive).

But really, any good Jedi books. And, which book should I start with?

Kind of the starting point for Star Wars novels is Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy; not as Jedi-focused as some but much better than the average. "I, Jedi" (I think by Stackpole?) is good for straight Jediness, and the X-Wing series is less Jedi-y but quite exciting and with great veins of humor.
