I'll read fic from any fandom that takes this trope and twists it. Less of the straight "Aww yeah, heat/knots/PORN" and more playing around with how having that kind of biology affects society as a whole. Gimme your in-denial Alphas on suppressants, yer strong independent male Omegas who are NOT PROPERTY JUST BECAUSE OF MY PHEROMONES OK HEAT ISN'T CONSENT, yer Alpha/Alpha couples dealing with infertility....

And...you know...porn. I don't mind the porn, I just don't want that to be ALL there is.

Summary: Only mages are omega and almost all of them are in a Circle of Magi. Apostates are very rare and Anders has been in Kirkwall for just under a year. He's searching for answers on why less mages are being born every year. One night he breaks into the Chantry seeking answers and has a fateful encounter with Devin Hawke.

I like it because it's less about the A/B/O porn and more about trying to work out a better life for mages/omegas than shoving them in the Circles and preventing them from breeding. It also gives control methods, like potions that hold off heats and couples potentially being able to decide to bond (if accidents don't happen).
