Re: What would you try if you were trying meat for the first time?

"The vegetarian sources she was used to" might have been stuff like Gardenburgers or Quorn, though, or possibly frozen dinners like Amy's or Kashi. Anything that highly processed is not going to be cheap.

AYRT Yeah I wondered that. But are there vegetarian people who don't know about cheaper vego options and would rather switch to eating meat?

But then, I hear funny things about some US people, like the woman from New York I met who had literally never eaten fresh vegetables til she came here. So maybe there's that going on, idk?

Preparing meat so that it's tasty is often faster and easier when you don't have many (or any) cooking skills. Making beans and lentils that don't taste like cardboard sludge is a little trickier, and it takes more ingredients and longer cooking time if you're using the cheapest option, i.e. dried beans/lentils.

AYRT Sure, I agree. That's not so much a money issue though, unless poverty is making you very stressed/tired. Anyway I didn't mean to sound judgey, I was just surprised since meat is so expensive and she used to be fine not eating it.
