Really don't think that the connection is that strong. Lawrence is probably a model but one of a huge number of models for the general concept of 'adventurer', not a 1-to-1.

Good line about the whip though.

Yeah, it's not a perfect 1 to 1 but it stuck out to me, I suppose, considering how fond both Spielberg and Lucas seem to be of the film Lawrence of Arabia.

Particularly Spielberg's early work which is WIDE-SHOTS AHOY.

I giggled like a maniac making this secret though. (Which just goes to show how lowbrow my sense of humor is, I suppose).

Yeah, again, I'm not even disagreeing, it's just that the Indy series has to be one of the most influenced things ever. There's just this insane wealth of touch-points in genre and look and feel and character and cinematography and everything. Which is one of the things that makes it great, that it has those influences without just being a pastiche of them.

Yeah, Lucas especially tends to make his films giant references to EVERYTHING HE LOVED AS A KID.

It's quite fun to try to peel apart all the different influences.

I'm more familiar with Star Wars but Indy's just as influenced.

The whip thing is what got to me in this case, I'll admit.
