Popular in FS

Of course Lawrence of Arabia has been making the rounds, but I've seen a lot of Star Trek popping up lately too. What other resurgences have you guys noticed lately and why do you think that is?

f!s' undying love of starsky and hutch might make me watch it one day

similarly I've always loved that F!S is like the chief Internet center for Harry / Luna

Well, I think there's one Lawrence of Arabia fan, and one (maaaybe 2) Star Trek fans who are solely responsible for making those secrets. Lol

It's not really a matter of what's popular on F!S so much as it is what's popular to the people who actually bother to make secrets. And good on them, I say. I never make enough secrets, though this week I've submitted a couple from various fandoms.

I make some of the Star Trek secrets, but not all of them so there's at least two. But I'd bet there are more, because the odds of there ONLY being two ST fans in a large fandom community seems low to me.

ayrt

I fully believe there are more than 2 Star Trek fans. Again, it's more a matter of, are there more than 2 fans here who actually bother to make secrets? Not trying to play "the end of f!s is nigh!!!" but we only get like ten secrets a day now, most people just don't submit secrets. Most of the things that are posted, anyway, you're going to find at least one or two other people who are fans, but they might be very casual and would have not made a secret about it themselves.

I love that we're anon and all, but now I'm really curious to see what proportion of people submit secrets against how many people come here regularly.

There seemed to be a good bit of Blake's 7

Well, I for one am happy at the frequency of Babylon 5 and Tolkien secrets. They aren't super common, but compared to the size of the fandom they are.

I've noticed a few Stargate Atlantis secrets, so I guess the McShep is still strong in F!S.

Wrestling! And I didn't make the first secrets that started popping up in in March, I think it was. I'd like to know who it was that was making the TNA secret(s), because all the wrassle people I talk to don't watch TNA.

This seems to have been Year of the Anime on FS. Seems to me, anyway.

Were you not here in 2007?

We've been in a dry spell for years.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-01 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
...We get like, three anime secrets a week, man.

Re: Popular in FS

(Anonymous) 2015-08-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Four too many.
It doesn't help that the anime ones are generally indistinguishable from the videogames. Too many animesque videogames these days. You can basically count them as a single genre now.

Are you sure you aren't confusing some of the game secrets with anime? I know I did that a few times. The character designs are pretty close sometimes.

What kind of modern game could be mistaken for an anime? One is 3d, the other isn't.

Re: Popular in FS

(Anonymous) 2015-08-01 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly visual novels and JRPGs.

Re: Popular in FS

(Anonymous) 2015-08-01 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
The character's facial characteristics even of a lot of 3D games tend to resemble the general art style of characters from anime. I've noticed that. And you have the big anime swords, the ghibli-type backgrounds, and mecha-with-fantasy-elements that is a big thing in manga and anime. I can see how it is an easy mistake to make.

I used to think that too, but as others have pointed out there really aren't that many. I think it's more that you either get anime or you don't, so it seems like a lot just because when there are a few you're lost. Same with video games.
