I'm not saying it wasn't a terrible thing to do to another teenager (I think they were both teenagers? they might have been in college, I don't remember), but a lot of presidential candidates have done really shitty things in their past and had a bunch of people vote for them anyway. forcibly cutting someone else's hair (which, again, is still really awful) probably isn't even in the top 10 tbh

Where are you seeing a double standard here (or did you mean "here" in general rather than "here" as in fandomsecrets?)? I haven't seen anyone here try to argue that what Romney did wasn't assault or a generally shitty thing to do to another person. The only thing the person you replied to said was that it wasn't surprising that people voted for Romney because people have been willing to vote for people who have done worse things in the past (which is true)
