Re: Your most depressing birthday?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-02 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
well shit belladonna wins this one, but I'll still add to the train.

I've had a lot of very depressing, lonely birthdays. Mostly my late 20's and a fair number of the 30s. the year one well-meaning friend put together a group dinner out with 12 people I hate when all I wanted was a dinner with her and her husband. the years nobody wanted to do anything and most didn't even remember my birthday. the year all the rsvps to my party turned into nobody showing up.

but the most depressing of all was the one I spent in Albuquerque NM, alone. I had flown out there to a job interview, but I ended up turning down the job, so as soon as I gave them that news, they wanted nothing more to do with me. wouldn't even give me a ride to the airport. I was a thousand miles from anyone I knew, didn't fly out till later in the day, and my "birthday dinner" was the shittiest burger ever at Stuckey's. on my own dime.

but hey, the company went under six months later so bullet dodged I guess.
