Eh, I admit I dislike it, but that's because I do not find bald duds attractive and I really didn't get luck in terms of LI's in Inquisition.

I like the mustache too. It's kind of goofy, but I think he just wouldn't look right without it

Someone shopped him without it, and he looked terribly young. The mustache has panache and I dig it.

He's one of the youngest in the party, but the mustache disguises it.

Do people actually hate Solas with a bald head that much? I haven't been in the fandom in a big way for months, but people loved the fuck out of him. Maybe some liked to imagine what he would look like with hair but I never thought it was a big deal? (To me he's sexy, hair or no hair. Though this art is absolutely gorgeous, I liked his canon appearance. I wouldn't change it.)

Same for Dorian... He wouldn't be Dorian without that glorious mustache. I saw someone remove it on tumblr and was completely underwhelmed... He looked kind of boring, tbh.

Yes, they do. I've seen page long rants about it. People are bat-shit crazy about the weirdest, most inconsequential things in Dragon Age fandom nowadays. :\

That's... Dumb and bizarre. And Solas seemed to be one of the most popular and lusted after characters in Inquisition, so thinking that some would focus so much on an inconsequential detail is dumbfounding.

In truth, most of my hate of Solas' looks isn't because of his bald head. I hate his face, and putting hair on him (as per a couple of manips I've seen around) only improves him slightly because he still has the same triangular face and dimpled chin that I dislike.

Well, you're never going to be attracted to every character. You like what you like, and if his appearance doesn't do it for you that's okay.

But I don't see why people complain about it or use psychical stuff as a reason to dislike the character themselves. There's more to a character than their appearance, just as there's more to a person than their appearance.

Like, just because I don't think a character is hot doesn't mean the design is wrong, you know?

I don't find Solas attractive, but I think baldness suits him and wouldn't like him to have hair.

Now, Dorian's mustache works great for him and I don't even like mustaches.

I admit I wasn't thrilled when Solas was revealed because he was bald headed but the reaction he received by the fandom made me root for him. I romanced him first solely based on the initial hate his appearance received and I don't regret it.

Admittedly I don't mind the concept drawings of him with hair but him being bald for DAI just fits. Dorian without a mustache is just...wrong and I'm not even a fan of the guy.

Why? A character is bald and people don't like it. It's the exact same situation. I honestly expect the next DLC or game with Solas in it will have him with hair and that people will like him that way too. I don't want it to happen, but I'm pretty sure it will. It's kind of disheartening to me for personal reasons. 'X has done some important thing! Give them hair to show their character growth! Like they grew their hair! Now everyone will find them sexier too! Money! HURHURHUR!' ...that's a HUGE hit to self esteem my SO, who has cancer, shouldn't have to take just because of lazy writing technique.

Is it just me or does the DA fandom fixate on hair more than most fandoms do? Getting bent out of shape about a bald elf isn't surprising or unusual in and of itself, but if the available mods are anything to go by, head and facial hair is a big deal for a lot of players.

I'm pretty sure there are mods to remove Dorian's moustache that came out within a week of the game's release. I go to a modding site and of the six mods on the front page, four are about hairstyles. I distinctly seeing remember several DA2 mods for putting a beard on Varric, yet for some inexplicable reason people seem to be flocking to the beardless Blackwall mod. There are a million mods dedicated to "improving" Aveline, and most of them change her hairstyle.

What is it about Dragon Age that brings this out of people?

I don't like him bald because he looks too much like Zathrian. Do not want.
