Re: Common/Disliked Tropes That You Use Anyway

I use a lot of stylistic quirks that are considered lazy or pretentious, like "Five Times X did Y (and 1 Time They Did Z)", leaving titles uncapitalized, writing in present tense, unconventional narration, etc. I can see how they'd get annoying if overused or used incorrectly, but I think any writing technique can be done well. It all depends on the fic - some things work with some stories, others don't.

One storytelling trope I love that a lot of people seem to hate is a villainous (or technically heroic, but thoroughly asshole-ish) character being redeemed.
