What keeps you on f!s?

Okay this sounds sort of sad, but I think it's one of the few stable things in my life. It's like my night ritual before bed. Plus I like some of the people.

3. I've discovered some great music, fanfic, and books through this place

looking at fail-fandomanon, which looks like CG with more comments, i'm kind wondering that too

i would say the regulars and the sense of community, but there's only a couple i really care for any more and they're not all that active either and most people post anon anymore

secrets have been hovering around ten for awhile too

I prefer this to failfandomanon just because I feel like I can actually sustain conversations here as opposed to just anonymously throwing a post into the wind and hoping someone replies.

I can talk about my fandoms here. I get fandom news here, and recs for new fandoms and other cool fandom stuff. And there are people who are more in fandom (and generally more in the know) than I am who can answer my questions.

The support, having a place to talk and share things, and just the activity and conversations.

Partly habit, partly boredom, partly because I like most people on here, even if I am always anon and often lurking myself.

Routine. I check it when I get home from work.

The people. My fanclub amuses me and most of the named users are lovely folks.

Apathy. Habit. Escapism. Anonymity. Path of least resistance.

I like the people and enjoy the discussions I get into here.

1. Because I enjoy coming here, commenting on secrets, speaking to people about my interests and discussing various topics. I also like the rec posts. (Both for finding new stuff, and sharing stuff I like.) It's kind of a nice place to come for news, too... The people here have such varied taste.

2. Because I miss communities and this is one of the last active ones I know of. It does make me sad that we've lost so many people, but I'm still fond of a lot of the people who frequent this place and would miss them if I didn't talk to them. (Or see them around.)

3. It's a nice part of my daily routine.

Bored, mostly. That and I've been checking daily for so long (since around '08 or so), that's it's habit.

Habit, but also a fondness for most of the people, and some really good threads. I've read some awesome books and discovered new things because of recs here.

It's the only place I really post anon on, so I feel more comfortable stating some things here rather than tumblr and other sites I go on. Most of the named users are really cool (there's one in particular I think has the dumbest opinions on things but other users seem to disagree with their crap too so w/e). It's fun to talk about stuff in GC that I don't get to discuss with anyone else. All the fandoms I'm in are kind of rare to see show up in the secrets, so I still come here for the community I guess.

I've needed advice a couple of times, particularly stuff I can't ask friends or family about, and you guys have always helped me out. I try paying it forward by answering questions I have some knowledge of, whenever they show up.

It's nice to get an overview of fandom trends here. The big fandoms that I don't follow first-hand may be the same, but it's less stressful than wading through Tumblr. I only look on Tumblr for fandoms I'm in. Here, I don't expect secrets about my fandoms unless I make them.

I've gotten some great advice and recs here too, so I return the favors when I can.

Yeah I like the anon feature as well. I don't like posting personal things on my tumblr too often, partly out of paranoia but also because I'd rather put fun things on it rather than record all the bad things happening in my life. It helps to be able to vent here sometimes.

It's reliable, there are people I like, and conversations are sometimes very interesting.

obsessive-compulsive disorder

... a lot of reasons? People are mostly nice, compared to a lot of other fandom spaces I've been in. Even some of our "trolls" are nice. I like the variety of secrets, and we get some interesting discussions. There's usually something interesting going on, folks are generally friendly, and it's also helpful for me in introducing me to games, books, or TV/Film that I might not have been aware of otherwise. :)

I've been on here for so long I can't even remember, and I've only just started posting anonymously because I'm shy like that. I took a long break from FS though (about 1-2 years I think?) and when I came back this place had shrunken dramatically... I still recognised the named users, though, so I began the daily routine once more. I think I came back for the same reasons as everyone else - the routine, the recs, the latest fandom news, etc. Also, I live alone now, so when I have free time and nothing to do this place seems to eat up some time (and make the loneliness easier to ignore).

Habit mostly, fandom discussions, casual chats. I've been here on and off for years so I'm a little bit fond but not desperately attached.
