It puzzles me that so many people approach sex as a status thing

(Anonymous) 2015-08-04 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I feel the same way, but I think it's a status thing for some people because "having sex = you are attractive" and "not having sex = you are unattractive" (note: these are NOT my views). Think about all of those movies set in (usually American) high schools where the "nerdy" character is usually the only one who hasn't had sex yet, and when they finally do get the chance to be with someone, it's only after undergoing some kind of makeover or gaining "cool" status beforehand. It's a terrible stereotype that needs to go away. Granted, I haven't seen many movies with this trope recently, so maybe times really are changing?

But it has kind of proven true in my observation.

Wow no. It really depends on the quality of the sex you're having.

Sex is definitely a case in which having the wrong kind of it is way worse than having none at all, whether in terms of status or, really, of just not having a fucked up life that will haunt you forever.

What has? That you're more attractive if you have more sex?

Assuming you're talking about conventional attractiveness (which, don't forget, doesn't equal objective attractiveness for everyone) there's probably a correlation but even then it's not gonna be a surefire indicator.
