Well, to be fair they spent more effort kicking away every last shred of hope and fun in the last act than actually figuring out how to bring it to a conclusion.

That's kind of the point, tho. Obvious Jesus Metaphor is Obvious. The entire point is grabbing what tiny shred of hope you can get and running with it. Or that's how I read it.

But maybe I'm jaded by actually coming from a military family and figured the point was kind of. An actual realistic portrayal of what those kinds of situations would be.

I thought the entire story was a train wreck starting with Mars, and trying figure out any meaning behind Bioware's trademark last-act coercion strikes me as polishing a turd.
