I'm afraid of open doors. I must have some kind of sleep disorder because every time one is open, I have a dream that someone (or a monster) is standing in the doorway, and I start screaming and yelling at them, with no response. They must always be closed. Weird, I know.

I have every sympathy! I can't sleep if the door of my room is open. Theoretically, I know that if whatever it is I'm worried about wants to come in, a locked door won't even slow it down. But I still can't sleep if the door isn't both shut and locked.

This poses a real problem for my cat.

It's weird in how so many stories about the supernatural, a closed and locked door will stop them. I think it's the vampire thing - they need to be invited into your sanctum.

I'm the opposite. I can't sleep with the door closed, because a closed door could have anything lurking behind it, but an open one will let you see things coming.

I don't really mind wide open doors, but I can't have door ajar when I'm home alone or sleeping. It just freaks me out.

I think it's because a really open door is noticeable both when it's opening and when it is open, while having a door ajar is less so and someone can just be sneaky about them or something. I don't even really know myself, but I find it really creepy.

Doors that are ajar are the worst for me too.
