How to identify Midi file songs?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-05 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So I was going through some old folders, which had been passed on from computer to computer from like fifteen+ years ago, and I found a few old MIDI file songs which are very pretty. I really want to identify them and figure out what they are, so I can hopefully get the full mp3 version. Anyone know how to go about doing that?

I saved them with the default names, but they are obscure like "garden" or "riddle". I know I got them all from the same website, and it's all fantasy type music. I did identify one as something by Enya, and years ago I figured out one was Aeris's theme. but I'm not having much luck just putting the "title" in Youtube and listening to everything, if they are possibly video game tracks I think they'll harder to find...

So, is there any sort of program anyone knows that can listen to your MIDI and find out what it is?

winamp plays .midi files as well as .mp3s and .mp4s. Download it.

Unlikely. Apps like soundhound probably wont' know what to make of old school midi, but maybe they are worth a try?

idk i managed to get Shazam or something to recognize "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by singing at it in the middle of a crowded party, I feel like midis would do just as well.

Upload them and put the links here (maybe in the next post, though) - maybe we can help you identify them?
