Yeah, but it doesn't happen every other page in canon. It's used sparingly, to point out that he's feeling helpless/annoyed at the situation. Fanfic writers over use it and it's not funny after the first 500 times.

It's a lot like Tony's nicknames for people or Thor's ... everything, speech, pop tarts etc. - it's there in canon but damn do fanfic authors overuse it to the point of ridiculousness.
