Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Aly generally the most hated Tortall protagonist? I even sometimes get the impression TP doesn't like her, from some of her comments (she mentioned Aly was hard to write because spying wasn't as dynamic as the fighting stuff she was used to, IIRC).

(And that's not even bringing in the sick what the fuck that was Nawat. Don't get me started on Nawat.)

I didn't mind Nawat for what he was, but as a romance it was awful. I mean they had nothing going for each other except basic animal attraction. Making that relationship anything approaching workable would have taken a whole lot more work, if it's even really possible.
