When you've been getting this for a while, how do you expect someone not to develop a defensiveness? I'd think that dealing with anons like that regularly for a year, I'd be kinda suspicious of people who were being jerks to me too.

Harassment messes with people.

Also I'm kinda sick of whenever something like this happens to someone here (cause it's happened to more than once) the argument of 'well they do this and they're not perfect/innocent either"

Who cares if they're not perfect. Who cares if they could possibly annoy someone? They still don't deserve it.

So they were opinionated.

So they talk about a fanfic trope a lot of people hate.

So they had a lot of questionable sounding life stories.

Why is 'well they do this' pulled out when someone says that stalking a person online is shitty? It's still shitty to do this.

This. I find dethtoll's politics reprehensible and he still doesn't remotely deserve the treatment he gets from anon bullies. Anyone who tries to justify bullying by pointing to someone else's behavior/opinions/whateverthefuck is a lazy coward bastard.

I'm not saying stalking trolls aren't shitty. But the propensity for calling people stalkers or trolls for responding to jerk behavior in kind is.
