I would consider myself pro-gun from the left as well - but the problem is that, in the context of the current American conversation on guns, I feel like that puts one pretty squarely in the gun control camp. Believing in any regulation of guns already makes one a moderate, is how it feels to me.

Of course, once you're there, you end up constantly getting pissy at the people on your side trying to ban all the guns, but c'est la vie.

Yeah, it's just... weird. There's this bizarre belief that everyone interested in guns must be some bible-thumping gay hating Tea Partier and it's not only wrong, it undermines attempts to get people into guns interested in better laws surrounding them.
