Because everyone knows female characters get shit on way way WAAAAAAAYYYYYY more than male characters. Way more. Like--WAY more.

Case in point--James Bond, the original Mary Sue. Or Gary Stu.

Dude, who are you even arguing against? We KNOW there are Gary Stu characters. But we're talking about Mary Sues. Two wrongs don't make a right, as the saying goes. And female characters may get a lot of shit, but Mary Sue characters deserve that shit by definition.

Plus, dare I say, a lot of female characters in mainstream media actually are really bad characters. Because major producers and such aren't interested in portraying women like real human beings half the time, or moving outside of tired, overused shells of a female character.
