(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)Also that time in "The Test" when he pretended to be cheered up and not have noticed the test was rigged, so that the Gems could feel like they were good at encouraging him.
And he's been shown feeling sort of alienated with both Gems and humans. And has developed the tendency to assume things are his fault even when they're not.
Steven is the type of a person who will act happy so that people wouldn't worry about him. I mean, he gets briefly upset about minor things and then bounces back to cheerful in a quite over-the-top manner, but when he's *really* upset about something, he'll try to act as if everything's fine. And is often quite convincing about it. Which, combined to the fact that he's genuinely cheerful most of the time, means that a lot of the other characters AND people watching the show tent to miss his issues.
But yeah, I'm pretty sure this kid *already* needs therapy with the rest of them.
