(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)I'd love to write more family fics in Tolkien but I can never think of a story. I'd especially like child/parent but most writing sites that give ideas are all set in modern day.

I find the idea of that all the more interesting when, using "The Shibboleth of Fëanor" as context, you look at just how old Fëanor is compared to Finwë's second marriage. According TSoF, Fëanor was an adult when his mother died.
Also? I think Maedhros's fathername is an indicator that he was born before Fingolfin. Maedhros was Nelyafinwë - "Third Finwë". That opens up a possible chance that Fëanor took some glee being able to call his son that while Indis was not about to call hers.

Re: Favorite Gen Tropes and/or Storylines
- episode tags
- friendship or family fic - fluff or introspection, not so hot on angst unless it's an episode tag or supplementary in-canon fic
- fix-its
- alternative canon pov fic

And I love body swap fic in general so I'd read that as GEN fic too.
