Skip the "mytharc" episodes, there's nothing of value there. I say this in retrospect, after being aaaaaaallll about the mytharc eps when I was an itty bitty X-Phile. :P

This. Not all of the Monster-of-the-Week episodes were good, but the best episodes were usually MotW. The mytharc just got unwieldy. I couldn't keep track of it after a certain point and gae up trying to care about that aspect of the show.

I disagree about skipping the mytharc. IMO the thing to do (if you can) is to watch the mytharc for the first five or six seasons, and to genuinely take it seriously as though the show is actually going to bring it all together and give you the epic answers it's always hinting at. Because when viewed in that light the mytharc eps can be genuinely pretty cool and creepy. The story they tell is just so vast and ominous.

BUT and the same time, go into it knowing that ultimately, no such answers will be given. Ultimately, the mytharc will just turn into an enormous mess that contradicts itself at every turn and doesn't make any sense.
