Same, OP.

And there's always someone who chimes in going: "But girls can totally run in heels, I do it, I run races in heels!"

THAT'S NOT THE POINT. In a survival situation, why would you risk your life by continuing to wear footwear that causes MORE potential dangers?

It's just incredibly immersion-breaking and it takes me right out of the story. I'm always reminded of that scene in In Time where the girl does all of this running from the bad guys and jumping out of a window on to a car a storey below in heels. It's just... no.
