Really? I absolutely love it. It's the only movie I've paid to see at the theatre more than twice (and the only movie I've seen twice at the theatre is DOFP).

That's not to say it's perfect, it's got so many stupid parts in it, but the parts they did well they did SO WELL. I love how it focuses on the characters (some of the characters, at least) so much more than the action, because that's really what X-Men is about. Xavier and Magneto's relationship is so incredibly well done. And most importantly, it's not about fucking Cyclops, Jean, and Wolverine. Even DOFP, which arguably has Wolverine as the main character, isn't really about him at all. I cannot express how refreshing that is for an X-Men fan who doesn't care for any of those three at all.

Yes, this is what I like about it. I love a good origin story (and it was a solid film in general...more so than most the others, IMO) and Charles and Erik's relationship is explored so nicely in this film. Granted, they don't really have all that much screen-time together, but McAvoy and Fassbender have such incredible chemistry that it works and you feel a connection.

Plus, I actually liked a lot of the other characters, despite their little screen-time. (Sean and Hank and Raven and Alex and Armando.) It was nice seeing the characters in a different light, and seeing a few new ones.

I'm still impressed that Darwin got more than a cameo in an X-Men movie.

While I'm glad he was included in the first place, I was rather upset that he didn't return. It would've been so easy... :(

This. I also love how this movie and DOFP focused on Mystique.

Too bad Jennifer Lawrence is so terrible at playing her.

Eh, I don't think she's that bad honestly.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, she wasn't that bad, honestly.

She wasn't that honestly bad, eh.
