(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 12:38 am (UTC)(link)however, even taking the best case scenario that it was just a joke, she told a straight-up rape joke, and not just a rape joke but the worst kind of rape joke, the kind of rape joke that asks you to sympathize with the perpetrator and that makes the victim the punchline of the joke. and ultimately, i think that you think that rape jokes like that are either okay, or they aren't. and if you think that rape jokes like that aren't okay, i don't see any possible defense that you can use for this specific joke.
obviously if it wasn't a joke it's even worse.
yes, people are complicated, and that's okay. but that doesn't alter the fact that, in this specific instance, the complication is insanely fucking shitty.
