If someone recs me a fic posted on ff.net I have absolutely no problem reading it. Like you say, a good fic is a good fic no matter where it's posted and I've seen some fantastic fic posted to ff.net over the years.

But I'd rather read fic on AO3 because I'm used to the look of the site, have an account now (so I can easily comment, favorite, etc) and like the ability to download the fic (even if I rarely remember to, even when I love something).

That, and, yes...there tend to be more fic pairing canon characters with OC's on ff.net, in just about every fandom I've explored. I suppose it would be easy enough to filter out, but I'd rather not have to; I prefer seeing everything in case I miss something I might like while looking for a specific pairing. (In smaller fandoms this works well, in larger ones...not always so much.)

I do feel where you're coming from though and IA, I just don't go there on my own anymore.
