A Morality Question

(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you deal with intellectually knowing what is right, but it not feeling right to you?

Well, I think there are two possible scenarios here. One the one hand, it could be that it's basically the question of the faculty of thinking being in conflict with the faculty of the will. And I think the only real solution in that case is to train the will.

The other possibility is that it's a conflict between rational understanding and intuition. In which case it's a matter for much deeper reflection - you really need to make sure you're 100% convinced in cases like that.

I have to question if it's actually right. If I'm sure it is, it usually calms any fears I have. If I have doubts, it's probably not right.

Alcohol and narcotics, use both until the dilemma goes away.

Depends on the scenario but i would research more into what I know is intellectually right. Is it that you have to do something that makes you feel bad but is the right choice?

This isn't possible to answer without context.
