I'm an atheist but I know every word of this soundtrack and listen to it quite often. It's terrific!

There's definitely nothing religious about it, and that's what I mean by atheist. The closest "supernatural" thing I can think of is Judas singing the actual Jesus Christ Superstar song after his death, usually with angel-clad back-up singers, but I think it's a stretch to take that literally. Especially since the lyrics of the song are purely skeptic and bring in other religions as well (Buddha and Muhammad), and it's probably more thematic than anything. Since it goes out of its way to portray Jesus as a human and not a god, and there's no assurance that God exists at all (in fact, Jesus is the only one who is concerned about God at all) I'd say it's pretty safe to say it isn't a religiously affiliated show at all. It's a secular human drama.
