caerbannog: my dog (THISTLE)

Re: FS, what are your thoughts on (so-called) animal experts on TV?

[personal profile] caerbannog 2015-08-11 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
He's basing his work off debunked studies. He's not wrong 100% of the time but he's not what is call an animal expert. He's so inflexible and not willing to try new things ... And some of his dogs he's 'fixed' are reoffending later on and worse.

Also all the dominance submissive crap. Sure, the dog needs to see me as 'the boss' but he goes to unsafe extremes? Blah.

I'll stick to my noncherry picking trainers thank you.

Also his muzzles are stupid looking and unsafe.

I'm just as critical of "positive only" trainers or anyone not willing to mix and match to find out what works best for the dog in the least harmful way. And any quick fix trainers. Actually any animal behaviour solving TV shows I'm going to side eye because some fuck wit us going to try to alpha roll the wrong dog.
