(Anonymous) 2015-08-13 06:49 am (UTC)(link)The only way I can think to do this would be to stop promoting the existing books by white male writers so heavily, less promotion, less sales, less valid avenue for money making, less white male writers. On the flip side more promotion for POC women means more sales, more money and more POC women seeing the career as a valid opportunity and starting writing. Ideally this would happen within the industry itself, but they will never start something like that, there's far too much money in backing the white male element, which is why we need to be the one's to start doing this. We need to promote more POC women and less white male creators.
This is what I have always held true, and this is what I've always taken away from this discussion, so is it possible this is what the person you're talking about was trying to say? not that white men need to stop, but we need to stop the encouragement of white men and start heavily encouraging POC women?
