Star Trek Into Darkness is better than Star Trek 2009, although both are kind of shit

I have literally no idea what aesthetic position you could even use to reach that conclusion

Kirk is an asshole in the first movie and is rewarded for it -- the second film is basically him getting called out on his shit

Although the perving on Carol sucked, I still don't think it's worse than the perving on Uhura + the fridging of Winona and Amanda

The "not gays" (as redlettermedia put it) got on my nerves -- Scotty makes boob jokes! McCoy mentions his wife! BECAUSE WE MUST MAKE SURE THAT THE AUDIENCE KNOWS OUR MAIN MALE CHARACTERS ARE NOT GAY (Kirk obviously has Gaila scene + the Spock/Uhura -> but McCoy and Scotty were fucking pushing it)

Vulcan's destruction was awful and does nothing

As bad as the villains were in STID, they at least weren't as utterly forgettable as Nero

SOOOOO much Star Wars ripping-off in the first film (Pike = Obi-Wan, Alderaan = Vulcan, Kirk = Luke's position with Han's character, MUST LIVE UP TO FATHER'S LEGACY)

Kirk being made Captain = WTF Is this bullshit

The characters being at each other's throats the ENTIRE film almost -- in STID, they at least helped each other out more often

Okay, I guess considering a movie good or not based on whether or not you think its characters, actions, and jokes are morally justified is an aesthetic position, fair enough

It seems like a silly aesthetic position but it is an aesthetic position
