Personally, both Natasha and Clint. I don't care about either of them but I don't mind them in stories (though Natasha usually annoys me more in fic).

For fandom in general, either Bruce or Thor. Thor has more fics in general but he is less likely to be the central character. Also, Thor is WAY more likely to be OOC (aka LOUD POPTART LOVING THOR).

Thor is my favorite Avenger, but I tend to avoid fics for the most part because he's usually so OOC.

Whenever I see a good Thor fic, I think of you.

Every time I see that Thor in fanfics, I want to scream. He's portrayed as incredibly stupid, oafish, and loud. That portrayal has some canon roots, but there are also plenty of roots for a subtle and deeper interpretation. So much lost potential!

There are some really great Thor fics out there, but they are definitely the minority. Though, I think it has gotten a bit better since Thor 2.

I agree with you on Natasha, it's mostly cos I find her characterisation to be pretty bland (granted I have not watched AOU) and fandom portrays her as the "BEST FEMALE SUPERHERO evar!!!1!!"

I can't stand her characterization. It is all super stoic and all knowing. Like, "These two characters are pining for each other. BUT NATASHA KNOWS BEFORE EITHER OF THE CHARACTERS KNOWS THAT THEY ARE IN LOVE!"

Or, "These two characters are in a secret relationship. *cue Natasha giving a knowing grin to Tony/Thor/Steve because obvs she knows about the relationship*"

I hate that so much. Why does she have to be perfect? She's just, like, a person. She can make mistakes and not notice things.

Because writers put her in because they have to but they don't take time to write her character beyond how fandom has characterized her (Stoic, All knowing, badass).

But she's a woman, so therefore it would be problematic! And people default to the trope that women always know best when it comes to emotions and are always attuned to relationships, so people write that even if a female character has shown no inclination of being like that. It's lazy.

I love comicverse!Clint, but movieverse!Clint is about as interesting as a wet napkin.

I do love Natasha but yeah she gets written the same way too often really. Either as 'I know everything Natasha', even though she states herself in canon that she only acts like she knows everything, or she's sharpening knives all the time. Where did that one even come from? I have kind of just gotten used to it though, but I'd love there to be more fic where she doesn't know everything because of reasons.

Clint I've got no fondness or beef with, he's alright in canon, don't care enough to explore him in fanon.

My life as a Thor-fan is filled with pain and will always be filled with pain, like I've lost count of the number of decent fic I've started to read and then capslock-poptart-munching Thor comes along and I have to leave, because I can't with that at all anymore. Just have him talk like a normal person! It can be done!

Does she even use knives in the movies? I can only ever remember her using her body, a garrotte, guns, and those shocking things.

Not as far as I can tell no, she mostly uses the Widow's Bite, guns, her small zappy discs, her garrotte-wire and general ass-kickery.

I think one part of it is that she's an assassin and as we know assassin's always have knives so fandom gave her knives, but I also think it's the comics getting imported over a bit in fic too as she uses knives a lot more in them than the movies.
