Awakening Anders was cool, no hate for him

Aww, I'm not in fandom, but I kind of like that Anders is popular. When I was on the Bioware message boards when the game came out (big mistake, I know) everyone despised him, not only for *gasp* being different from how he was in Awakening, but *bigger gasp* because he flirts with Hawke even if Hawke is a guy. I like Anders myself, though I'm more of a Fenris person.

He blew up a church with innocents inside to start a war and send a message.

It's a little bigger than daring to flirt with Hawke.

Meh, I hated the Chantry, and I hated the lady in charge. She's the one who had blood on her hands for being a lame duck, treating the mages like kids, doing nothing as mages and templars are killing each other, and worst of all, harboring that bitch priestess who ended up being a murderer... and didn't do SHIT about it until Hawke is there to witness her pulling shit. She deserved to go more than anyone.

So yep, I would've high-fived Anders had I been given the option.

(especially since there was all of like five priests inside the Chantry at the time. okay, Inquisition tried to claim a million people died, but that wasn't at all confirmed in DA2)

And I will never be able to agree with Anders fans like you, ergo he is my least favorite fandom darling.

Given that, it's not worth debating. You do you, I'll respectfully disagree.

The war was something that had to happen and was going to happen at one point or another. The question I have to ask is, if it wasn't Anders blowing up the Chantry, would the trigger have been something even bigger? Like destroying a whole city?

But then I have a very detached view of it all and do not get all that upset about plot events. All I do is consider it from the view of my Warden, who was a mage who also had plenty of memories of life outside the Circle (obligatory note about my LotR crossover headcanon). She would have been less than happy about the explosion but believed something had to happen to improve the lives of mages, because the way they were living in the Circle was verging on unbearable, even in the better Circles.

If it wasn't Anders blowing up the Chantry, it would have been the reveal that Tranquility is reversable. Which was actually probably a bigger factor than Anders in the first place.

He was so innocent he did nothing wrong!!!!

I didn't like either incarnation of him. He was kind of annoying?

Awakening Anders wasn't a trainwreck enough to be "least fave". Not an incredible character but no major issues with him. DA2 Anders... annoying is kindest thing I would call him

DA: Awakening Anders felt like a cheap bootleg version of Alistair. I was never quite convinced by him being his own person until DA2.

Yeah. Well, for me he spent most of the time in varying stages of annoying and at the end I was quite fed up and irritated by him. I think if I was more invested in DA I'd have really disliked him XD

Anders is the worst, Anders fans are the worst.
