It didn't delight me, but I can't say I didn't laugh when Peter and Claire in Heroes turned out to be related. (I had seen some Peter/Claire fans talk about how Peter/Nathan was disgusting, then, well... Not the same thing, but still kind of ironic.)

hahaha, I had completely forgotten about that. But yeah, it was definitely pretty funny/gratifying to see so many people meltdown and jump ship (not everyone of course. some shippers took it in stride and shipped Peter/Claire in spite of the whole incest thing. I also remember seeing a few others start shipping it because of the incest)

Totally, fandom is varied so there were quite a few different reactions. I saw a few people go, “Well I didn't ship it before, but I do now!" too, and then there were the people who were outraged that Heroes would do such a thing, but my favorites were probably the people who thought incest was gross then kept shipping it anyway. Kind of like, “Well, I'm already here, so whatev". Kind of hypocritical, but amusing.

I think that depends on why they think incest is gross.

Like, for me, 99.9% of fictional incest is gross because of the warping of family dynamics. The relationships are unhealthy in a way I just can't enjoy. Something like Peter/Claire, though, they didn't know one another existed for most of Claire's life, let alone that they were related, so there are no family dynamics. The squick doesn't apply.

That makes sense! I started thinking about that after I commented (that they don't actually have any sort of family dynamic, so some people might not have that problem with it). I can see it from that angle.

Bro I shipped Peter/Claire and I laughed so hard after the reveal, like that was hilarious, and then I kept on shipping it because fictional incest is so not a deterrent for me.

I think I might've shipped Peter/Claire if I wasn't already way into Peter/Nathan by that point. I also kind of shipped Claire and Zach, but that was more casual.

But it was kind of hilarious, yes. I've shipped sudden!incest too and looking back on it cracks me up.

I'm a fan of age-gap ships and I wasn't into slash back then so Peter/Claire was the obvious ship for me, then the reveal happened and I didn't stop laughing even while reading fanfic. Like than you for trolling me show.

I must admit that after finishing the game I went into the tumblr tags to see what people's reactions to the ship would be. There were quite a few people who were, "God, I ship Booker and Elizabeth SO hard, I hope they get together!!!" so I got the biggest kick out of those posts, and occasionally came back just to see what the reaction would be once they realized.

The level of shock and surprise is just...amazing, lol.

I like age-gap ships though too! (As you know from my latest obsession.)

I had a friend playing it after it was big and they would comment to me sometimes that they liked the Booker/Elizabeth interactions and I made sure to give nothing away because watching them go WHHHYYYYYY at me after that reveal was brilliant.

But yeah going through the tumblr tags for it was fun too.
