If anyone knows where the Person of Interest art came from, please tell me. I adore it.

As to the secret itself: uh, sorry, I guess. I like cute things.

It says "kadeart" on it, so I'm guessing it's this artist, but I haven't found the specific post yet.

Agreed, but your point weakens under the cuteness onslaught of chibiSteveandBucky.

Because, seriously. even I think that shit is cute, and on general principle I hate everything.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The PoI one isn't so bad, but the other two are fucking terrible.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with thinking that things are cute

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, but that's not what the secret actually said. There's a big difference between thinking things are cute and ONLY relating to things that you personally find cute.

I like cute things and that Stucky art is adorable. o3o

But cute things are so awesome!

Most people enjoy a bit of both.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
these are definitely not cute however

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
This reasoning is flawed because on the other extreme, you have grimdark h/c rapefic versions of everything

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
*the implication that its a female thing, anyway

I like a lot of cute things, but I don't relate to those exclusively. I do understand how annoying it must be if someone has to turn every single thing into something cute.

BTW, the PoI one is awesome! I am surprised, though, that not even chibi!Finch is as adorable as the real one -- can't make that guy any cuter than he actually is, as far as I'm concerned.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
except that... if they're drawing chibi Bucky or chibi Hannibal they'd already have to be a fan of the movies/shows in the first place? who says they're not "relating" to the characters until they're made cute?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
If there is a fangirl out there who literally cannot enjoy anything that is not cute ("Ew at fanart that isn't chibis" and "Ew at fanfic unless it's couch cuddling and face kisses") then I guess that's kind of silly and immature. But there's nothing wrong with enjoying chibis of your favorite pairings. Personally, I like chibis of my OTP and I like the fic where one of them has to instruct the other on how to cut a bomb out of his abdomen without any proper tools. I will go all gooey over the former, and all "come at me fic, my body is ready" over the latter.

But if someone saw me being gooey over the chibis, and was a judgmental sort of person, they may well jump to thinking cuteness is my number one priority. And if said person were a judgmental and sexist sort of person, they may well jump to thinking I'm "the kind of girl who only likes cute stuff" by which they would mean: silly, dizty, easily dismissed. Yeah, fuck that.

Also, I notice that the chibis in that PoI fanart are active and appear to be doing the kind of bamfy stuff the character actually do on the show. So what's the problem? They're not being depicted as silly, incapable versions of themselves; they're still bamfs, they're just cute bamfs. Their cuteness does not in fact negate their ability to be tech savvy or shoot bad guys or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The term "bamf" as a noun used to refer to the cute chibi versions of originally-scary X-Man Nightcrawler.

That's kind of too perfect.

It bothers me that you're implying that this is a 'girls' attitude when there are lots of men who are the same. See the current moe obsession.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
holy crap, this!

i was waiting for someone to mention it

ughhh both moe-fanboy and the cutesy-serial-killer-fangirl stuff give me the heebie-jeebies.

I'm very confused by your wording. Do you mean because they seem to like everything or they reblog cute art sometimes or???

'Relate' is throwing me here.

On the whole, I agree with you. And chibi mcu Loki can go DIAF.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I'm not seeing where 'relating' comes into it. If you mean that some fangirls exclusively prefer the cute aesthetic and only turn out fanworks catering to it... that's true, but again, I don't see the problem. I mean, what's your preference, anon? I bet somebody could pick that apart too.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Who are the three across the top! They're cute, I want to get into their fandom.

On one hand I feel like it's ok if they like that, because those characters are fictional. But on the other hand, it reminds me that some of them either have no concept of what men are like and/or refuse to see them as anything other than idealized, safe, cute-sy child-like creatures. Not trying to tell people how they should enjoy fandom, but menly friendship or idealized men can inhabit a wide spectrum of characterization.

Or maybe you could say that I've never really been interested in chibis to begin with.

So there are chibi everyone. Big deal.

OTOH, if that is Hannibal, I must admit it is an unexpected choice for chibi characters. It reminds me of the pop vinyl toys they're selling.

Never visit Japan, my friend. You would be overwhelmed by merely entering a grocery store, where at least half of the products are marketed by something cute telling you to eat them.
