Bitter? Star Wars fans, well, really don't have much to be bitter about, tbh. We've got tons of fans, tons of recognizability, most casual non-fans on the street like Star Wars and don't think it's silly to like it or mock people who do. When we say a meme or inside joke dear to us, almost everyone understands it. When we reference characters or fictional events we love, almost everyone gets it -- even non-fans. We've got fuckloads of novels, tie-in material, fanfic, cons, art, events, and other fandom activity. And we've got a whole new movie coming out.

What's there to be bitter about? We've got it made.

And IMO, it would be utterly ridiculous for us to have any need to feel defensive when other fans are bitter about us. That's only understandable -- I can only wish all my other fandoms were as lucky as Star Wars fandom is.

All of that's true, but there are problems with Star Wars fandom. For instance, there's one really big one that springs to mind - it's full of Star Wars fans.

...not exactly? Do you mean that there are some Star Wars fans who are bitter about everything regardless of whether they have anything to be bitter about? Yeah, they exist too. Like in every fandom, only SW fandom is big and long-lasting and therefore has a bigger contingent of dickheads.

Haha, yeah, I have to agree. Being a SW fan is great.

I mean in my family, we regularly sing one of the Sabbath songs to the tune of the Star Wars theme (and Luke's theme), and so many people recognize it and think it's great.
