You must be making an effort to be exposed to it, because I find Star Wars build up easy to ignore. I don't want to know the whole movie before hand, so I don't look for information, I scroll past articles about it, and so forth. I'm remarkably unspoiled, and unsaturated. You should try it.

btw, you sound really bitter and cranky. Lighten Up!

Yeah me too, I've found it remarkably easy to avoid spoilers and info. Then again, I'm not on tumblr...

Same here. I've managed to avoid even watching the new trailers as of yet.

I can tell you that it's pretty impossible to avoid Star Wars, and has been for 15 years. Not just the new movie, but Star Wars in general. There's always someone making a Star Wars related joke, or stormtrooper graffiti, or some damn shit. If you want to avoid Star Wars entirely, you have to sell your computer and hide in your basement, and even then you might find the Christmas special on VHS in a box.

And people will not. Stop. Talking. About Star Wars. It's endless. If they're not talking about the new movie, they're dragging out some tired old meme for reheated LOLs. Kill everything on this Earth and those LOLs will remain, like Chernobyl.

Being the only person you know who doesn't like Star Wars is like being the only sober person in a room full of drunks and wishing everyone else would stop making useless sounds.

Yeah, I'm... eh, I wouldn't precisely call myself a fan? It's not like I follow everything super-closely, but I've seen the movies, probably will see the new ones, have played the online game (mostly because Bioware and nostalgia for KOTOR), but... jeez, a lot of fans annoy me. Can you, like, not talk about Star Wars every fucking minute? Or make the same bad jokes over and over? Or... something?

Your analogy is not far off. I sometimes feel that way.

The thing is I don't really have anything against the original trilogy. But I'll never watch them again because thanks to the internet I feel like I've seen them a hundred times.

I don't actually mind some of the themes and genres and general sorta sci-fantasy presentation. I just want it in some other IP that hasn't achieved maximum cultural saturation.

I LIKE Star Wars and have also found it pretty easy to avoid stuff. I mean there were about 2 days where the lightsaber meme was everywhere (which was kind of funny imo), but I've mostly been unspoiled and haven't had it shoved in my face much either.

(now, MCU on the other hand...)

Yep, everything I have and follow is Star Wars. Yet I know nothing about the new movies. So easy to avoid.
