That women have to "prove" they are geeky, and anything they say or do will make others (men AND other women, even) question their geek cred. Whereas a guy never, ever gets questioned.

Most days, I don't know if this is true or just a personal fear. But I constantly avoid talking about geek stuff IRL because of this.

Depends on where you are and who you talk to. At least in gaming, there are so many women around that it's not that big of a deal anymore to be one.
