Dealing with nausea

[personal profile] belladonna_took 2015-08-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
how do other people do it?

I mostly make distressed faces and feel sorry for myself.
It's not making me feel better, and I don't just need to throw up because it wasn't something I ate.

It may help to pinch the meaty part of your hand between your thumb and forefinger--feel for the place where it hurts!--and massage it for a minute or so while taking deep breaths.

Also, you might have good luck sipping some flat ginger ale or cola, or nibbling on some candied ginger if you have any.

I just realised I've heard the hand thing but I've never tried it before. /facepalm
I do like ginger. I'll have to buy some ginger stuff to try.

Thank you for the tips!

In addition to above anon's suggestions, I've found ginger tea and mint tea both good for helping to alleviate nausea.

Ooh. Tea! I love tea, so that shouldn't be too horrible.

Thank you. :)

Sometimes certain scents can help, like just cut lemon or lime, or mint.

That makes sense. I like minty things when I feel sick.

Depends on why you feel sick, what you've been doing that day.

Are you drinking enough water? Eating enough real food? Do you easily get carsick? Do certain smells set you off?

I feel low level nausea pretty much all the time now. It's gross. I think it's a nervous system thing. I have lots of confusing sensation issues. I don't feel hungry when I should and I can't always tell when I have to pee or if something is hot or cold. My body just sucks.

Any of those things can make it worse. I've never had a problem with car travel prior to this starting, and now I feel instantly sick in moving vehicles. Some days I can't be around food or even other people because the smell is too much.

I have reflux on top of this, which is annoying. I have to be careful not to eat anything too spicy or acidic, especially later in the day or on an empty stomach.
