How long? It has already happened. Xkit guy was chased off of Tumblr because some blog was like, "This guy exists. Has anyone ever had him do anything to them? We have not heard anything bad about him BUT HE MUST HAVE RAPED SOMEONE!" So, people started saying he was a rapist. And he left.

Or John Green was recently called a pedophile because he *gasp* wrote books that young adults (mainly girls) read.

Calling out and doxxing is such bullshit.

Anonymity combined with the fact most of them don't have real problems. So they have to find problems and oppression some other way (because on Tumblr how oppressed you are is a sign of superiority).

They do have real problems, though. Although I'm not sure a lack of empathy is curable.

This and less known people have suffered the same.

The last I saw was someone who got doxed and subsequently fired from their job for saying something racist.
It turned out that they hadn't said such thing and that the one who did was someone with a grudge who created a fake account with a very similar name and of course no one noticed while calling them out, because who cares about evidence and double checking before doxing someone?

The John Green thing I really don't get. How are there gonna be any YA books if adults can't write them? I mean, I'm sure you could get some written by teens every now and then, but it's kinda rare for someone that young to be decent enough and persistent enough to get published.
